WAC Announces Post Season Men's Tennis Awards
DENVER – The 2021-22 All-WAC men’s tennis teams have been named, following a vote of the WAC's seven head coaches. Lamar’s Daniel Sancho Arbizu claimed both major individual player awards as he was voted the conference’s Player and Freshman of the Year while his coach, Scott Shankles, earned the league’s Coach of the Year accolades.
Sancho Arbizu served as the Cardinals No. 1 singles player all season. He went 6-0 in league matches while posting 14 overall dual wins during the spring campaign.
Shankles led Lamar to a conference high 15 overall wins while posting an undefeated record in six WAC matches. He guided the Cardinals to their first men’s tennis conference title since the 2017 season.
