SHSU's Rosada Advances to NCAA Championships

DENVER - Highlighted by Sam Houston sophomore Viera Permata Rosada advancing to the NCAA Championships, the WAC wrapped up competition in the NCAA Regional round.

Playing at the NCAA Albuquerque region, Rosada posted the low score of the day, shooting a 3-under-par 69 to jump 15 spots in the individual leaderboard and take one of two individual advancements to the NCAA Championships with an even par 216, beginning May 20 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Joing Rosada will be Florida's Marina Escobar Domingo as well as teams from Oregon, Texas, Georgia and TCU.

As a team, Sam Houston showed a little fight early as they remained right on the cut line before tying for seventh with Louisville with a 21-over-par 885. NM State also competed in the tournament after winning the WAC Championship last month in Kerrville, Texas. The Aggies finished 11th and were led by Amelia McKee and Alison Gastelum, who tied for 33rd with a 7-over-par 223.

At the NCAA Stanford regional, Grand Canyon's Siri Patchana competed as an indivual and tied for 47th with a 14-pver-par 227.
