LOS ANGELES – Despite holding an early lead, Grand Canyon couldn't hold that edge at the NCAA Regional hosted by UCLA at Easton Stadium.

In an elimination game, Ole Miss rallied from a five-run deficit to post a 9-5 victory on Saturday evening.

The loss ends the Lopes season with a 39-16 record.

Grand Canyon put a five-spot on the scoreboard in the opening inning. After RBI singles from Kristin Fifield and Danae Chatman, Stephanie Reed hit a three-run homerun to leftfield.

Methodically the Rebels chipped away at the Grand Canyon advantage. In the second frame, a Bre Roper RBI base knock pushed Mikayla Allee across the plate for their first run.

The scored stayed 5-1 until Ole Miss scored four runs in the fifth inning to knot the score at 5-5. In the top half of the seventh inning, the Rebels crossed the plate four times to complete the scoring.

Five different Grand Canyon players had at least one hit led by Kinsey Koeltzow and Macee Barnes two-hit evenings.
