Grand Canyon Falls in NCAA Opener
STILLWATER, Okla. - A quick start lifted Arkansas to a 7-1 victory over Western Athletic Conference regular season champion Grand Canyon on Friday afternoon in an NCAA First Round Regional game hosted by Oklahoma State.
On Saturday, the Lopes will play the loser of Oklahoma State and Missouri State in an elimination game. First pitch for that contest is set for 11 a.m. (MT).
The Razorbacks, the four-team region's No. 2 seed, scored the first five runs of the game. Grand Canyon got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Tyler Aquilar smashed his 21st homerun of the season.
A comeback was not in the cards for Grand Canyon as Arkansas scored the final two runs of the game with a run in the fourth and sixth innings respectively.
Six different pitchers for the Lopes combined for an 11 strikeout performance.
