CORVALLIS, Ore. – After winning the Western Athletic Conference tournament in dramatic fashion over five days in Arizona, the NM State baseball teams continued that drama into their NCAA Regional at Oregon State.

Despite rallying from an early deficit, the Aggies fell in extra innings to the host Beaves 5-4.

NM State will now play Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. (MT) in an elimination game.

Oregon State scored the first run in the opening inning before the Aggies tied the score at 1-1 in the top of the second frame.

The home team took a 2-1 lead after a fifth inning run only to see the Aggies rally to grab a 3-2 edge in the seventh inning. The back-and-forth affair continued as Oregon State retook the lead with a pair of runs in their half of the seventh frame.

NM State had one more rally in them as they forced extra innings with a ninth inning run on a Preston Godfrey RBI single.

Oregon State ultimately won the game in the 10th frame with a base loaded walk.
