Utah Valley Wins Second Straight WAC Academic Excellence Award
DENVER – For the second straight year Utah Valley has claimed the WAC Academic Excellence Award, which recognizes exemplary performance in the classroom by a conference member. The WAC announced Utah Valley as the 2021-22 award recipient on Monday afternoon.
The award is determined by a point system and presented to the institution that performs the best in the following areas: the average grade-point average (GPA) for each undergraduate student-athlete, the average GPA of each undergraduate student-body compared to the average GPA of an institution's student-athletes and the most recent two-year average of institutional Academic Progress Rate scores.
Utah Valley boasted an average GPA of 3.38 among undergraduate student-athletes across the university's 16 varsity sports. The average GPA for Utah Valley student-athletes was 0.15 points higher than that of the university's undergraduate student body. The Wolverines also logged an average APR score of 980 over the last two reported academic years.
