DENVER – Seattle U's Declan McGlynn and UNLV’s Louis Hiepen have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Aug. 29.

McGlynn, a senior forward, enjoyed a stellar performance on the attack for Seattle U in a massive 3-1 win at No. 4 Notre Dame to open the 2022 season on Aug. 25. McGlynn kicked off the scoring with a successful penalty attempt at 49:26 to give the Redhawks a 1-0 lead. McGlynn then cut toward the right post and buried a cross from Nathan Bond on the left flank at 64:29 for the 2-0 advantage. McGlynn finished the Notre Dame match with three total shots, with both shots on goal finding the back of the net.

Hiepen, a junior defender, played a key role for UNLV in a scoreless draw with No. 22 Santa Clara to begin the new season on Aug. 25. The Rebels held the Broncos to just two shots on goal over 90 minutes in the match, including none during the first half, to earn UNLV its first result against a ranked opponent since the 2017 season.
