DENVER – Abilene Christian's Caylen Wright and Utah Tech’s Kayla Thompson have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, for the match week ending on Sunday, Sept. 12.
Wright, a senior forward/midfielder, averaged 4.50 shots per game in her team’s two victories over Prairie View (Sept. 9) and Texas Southern (Sept. 11). During the match against Prairie View, Wright had a .667 shooting percentage and had a perfect shots on goal percentage in her 50 minutes of play. Against Texas Southern, Wright had nine shot attempts, four shots on goal and one assist.
Thompson, a senior goalkeeper, had a lights out weekend in the net helping Utah Tech to two shutout victories. She ended the weekend with 14 saves, two wins and two clean sheets. She has helped the Trailblazers to a four-game win streak with over 360 minutes without being scored on.
