TicketSmarter WAC Volleyball Players Of The Week Announced
DENVER – Stephen F. Austin’s Ariana Pagan and Haley Hoang have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. UT Arlington’s Jalie Tritt has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Freshman Player of the Week, for the match week ending on Sunday, Sept. 18.
Pagan, a senior outside hitter, had 33 kills this past weekend (11 each game) with a game-high .524 hitting percentage against Eastern Washington. Pagan also recorded 28 digs, including her 1,000th career dig, against Arkansas State. She also recorded two double-doubles with 11 kills and 10 digs against Texas A&M-Commerce and Arkansas State. She was named the MVP of the All-Tournament team.
Hoang, a junior defensive specialist, recorded 55 digs this weekend to bring her season total to 262 digs, which ranks her first in the conference. Hoang recorded a game high 21 digs against Texas A&M-Commerce (Sept. 16). Hoang also recorded a double-double against Eastern Washington with 11 assists and 18 digs. As of September 15, she is ranked third in the nation with 5.59 digs per set.
Tritt, an outside hitter, completed the weekend on the UTA Invitational All-Tournament Team averaging 2.50 kills, 1.90 digs and .70 blocks per set. Tritt recorded eight kills with a .500 hitting percentage to go along with her 12 digs and three blocks in the win over New Orleans (Sept. 16). Against Lamar she tallied 13 kills, six digs and four blocks.
