DENVER – Utah Tech's Karli Nyland and California Baptist’s Noa Schumacherhave been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Sept. 19.
Nyland, a junior forward, notched two goals on three shots, with those three shots being on frame. Both goals were against Stephen F. Austin within 10 minutes, with each goal following Utah Tech corner kicks.
Schumacher, a graduate goalkeeper, had a strong defensive presence in the Lancers’ 3-1 victory over the defending Western Athletic Conference champions and preseason favorite Grand Canyon. Schumacher recorded a season-best eight saves, with the biggest one coming off a penalty kick.
