SFA HEADS CONFERENCE STANDINGS
Stephen F. Austin’s women’s volleyball has moved to the top of conference rankings after a stellar non-conference slate. SFA closed out non-conference play with nine straight set wins during the SFA Invitational. Ariana Pagan and Haley Hoang both had successful weekends as they both won player of the week honors for week five.
UT ARLINGTON ON SIX-GAME WINNING STREAK
UT Arlington has only lost one match in the month of September as it enters conference play winning eight of its past nine contests. UTA opens Western Athletic Conference play for the first time at Grand Canyon on Saturday, Sept. 24.
SAM HOUSTON BAKER HAS HISTORIC WEEKEND
Hannah Baker, a sophomore defensive specialist became the first player in NCAA Division I since 2015 to have 50 digs in a single match, which also is the most in the NCAA this season. That performance helped her surpass the 1,000 total career digs plateau putting her names in the history books.
UTAH VALLEY BEGINS TITLE DEFENSE
The Utah Valley Wolverines claimed the 2021 WAC Tournament Championship and began the season second place in the preseason polls. Despite beginning the season 5-6, Utah Valley is in the running to make another trip to the ncaa tournament beginning with a 14-game conference slate.
CONFERENCE PLAY BEGINS THIS WEEKEND
After a competitive slate of non-conference games, the WAC begins conference play as the league membership competes for seeding to participate in the WAC Volleyball Championship that will be hosted by UTRGV.
