DENVER – Houston Christian’s Bryant Farkarlun and UTRGV’s Alexis Gonzalez have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, for the match week ending on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Farkarlun, a senior forward, took over the conference lead in scoring for the season following an eight-point week in a pair of wins for Houston Christian. In just 45 minutes of a 6-0 win over Howard Payne on Sept. 21, Farkarlun scored twice on three shots on goal and added an assist for the Huskies. In a 2-0 shutout of UIW on Sept. 25, Farkarlun served an assist on the match-winning goal and added an insurance score for Houston Christian in 65 minutes of match time.

Gonzalez, a freshman goalkeeper, stood tall in net for UTRGV in a spirited 0-0 draw at CSUN on Sept. 24. Gonzalez registered four saves in the contest, including three in the second half alone, to earn his first career collegiate clean sheet and remain unbeaten in his debut season for the Vaqueros.
