SOUTHERN UTAH SHUTOUT TARLETON
Southern Utah shut out its seventh opponent of the season after a 1-0 victory over Tarleton this past Sunday. Whitney Wangsgard scored the game’s only goal in the eighth minute of the match. Wangsgard has now scored or assisted in each of Southern Utah’s first four conference games. Wangsgard has five goals and four assists on the season, including two goals and three assists in conference play.
UTAH TECH REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE PLAY
Utah Tech women’s soccer continued its eight-game undefeated streak through game four of conference play with a 2-1 win over Abilene Christian. The Trailblazers ended the match winning their eighth straight match, going 7-0-1 since Aug. 29.
CBU TOPS SEATTLE U ON LATE GAME WINNER
CBU improved to 5-1-2 on the season, and a perfect 2-0 in Western Athletic Conference play after Lourdes Bosch scored the game-winning goal against Seattle U on Sept. 24. The win also extended the Lancers win streak to three games.
CBU'S SCHUMACHER NAMED DPOTW FOR A THIRD TIME
Noa Schumacher had another strong defensive presence in the Lancers shutout victory over Seattle U, making her back-to-back defensive player of the week and third overall this season. Schumacher recorded six saves in CBU’s victory, bringing her season total to 37 while averaging 5.29 saves per game.
GCU BACK IN ACTION THIS WEEKEND
After a two-week sabbatical, the Lopes return to action on Friday as they host conference foe Seattle U, then Utah Valley on Sunday. GCU is 0-1 in conference play but has an overall 4-3-1 record. GCU was picked to finish first in the WAC with 117 total votes.
