STEPHEN F. AUSTIN REMAINED UNBEATEN
Stephen F. Austin remain unbeaten and at the top of the conference standings. The Ladyjacks have defeated their last three opponents while only dropping one set in that span. Tarleton and UTRGV are both tied for the second position in the conference with matching 7-1 records after the opening week.
THREE TEAMS GET THEIR FIRST WINS OF YOUNG SEASON
Seattle U, Abillene Christian and UT Arlington each joined the win column during the third week of the season. All three teams now have a winning percentage over .333 heading into week four of play. Southern Utah remains the only WAC member still searching for its first win.
CRUZ, HOANG AND HAIR CLAIM BACK-TO-BACK POTW HONORS
UTRGV outside hitter Sarah Cruz led the WAC with 6.30 points per set and 5.73 kills per set, hitting a cumulative .335 in those contests. Haley Hoang of SFA played a central role in keeping SFA undefeated for the season following a spotless 4-0 team match performance. Allie Hair logged a .783 hitting percentage and a .733 in the same stat catagory in her last two matches.
SIX TEAMS OVER THE .220 HITTING PLATEAU
Six different teams representing the WAC have logged hitting percentages in excess of .220 to begin the season. Tarleton State now leads the conference with a .267 team clip, followed by UTRGV (.255), Grand Canyon (.245), SFA (.242), California Baptist (.237) and New Mexico State (.235) as of Sept. 6.
SEVEN WAC MEMBERS HAVE ACTIVE WINNING STREAKS
Entering play on Sept. 8, seven different WAC members are in the middle of active winning streaks led by SFA and UTRGV (seven straight wins). Tarleton and NM State have each won four consecutive matches, and Grand Canyon and Utah Valley have each logged three straight wins to highlight recent top performances.
