TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Seattle U’s Riley Grigsby and Grand Canyon’s Kobe Knox have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Freshman of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Jan. 15.
Grigsby, a senior guard/forward, ranked second in the conference during the week with 23.0 points per game and added 8.5 rebounds per contest on 56.7 percent shooting in a 2-0 week for WAC leader Seattle U. Grigsby exploded for a season-high 27 points on 10 made field goals to go with nine rebounds in a 69-66 win against NM State on Jan. 12. Grigsby chipped in 19 points with eight boards and two assists on the road in an 85-80 triumph at previous conference unbeaten Utah Valley on Jan. 14, ending the Wolverines’ 11-game winning streak.
Knox, a guard, claimed his second conference weekly honor of the season after averaging 8.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Grand Canyon. Knox connected on all four of his shots from the floor on the way to scoring 13 points with five rebounds in just 15 minutes in an 80-48 victory against UT Arlington on Jan. 12.
