TicketSmarter WAC Indoor Track & Field Athletes Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Jack Marshall, Stephen F. Austin’s Branson Ellis, Grand Canyon’s Keira Christie-Galloway and Abilene Christian’s Ella Anttila have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Jan. 22.
Marshall, a junior, ran the fastest men’s 200-meter dash time in the WAC this season, an adjusted 20.91 to place third in the finals heat at the TTU Red Raider Open on Jan. 20. Along with leading the conference, Marshall ranked 17th in NCAA Division I in the event as of Jan. 25.
Ellis, a senior, captured his second straight men’s pole vault title at the FasTrak Indoor Collegiate Opener on Jan. 21. Ellis was the only competitor to clear 5.50m (18-0.5), which would have placed second in the WAC to his own 5.60m (18-4.5) effort earlier this season and ranked ninth nationally as of Jan. 25.
Christie-Galloway, a junior, placed third in a competitive women’s 60-meter hurdles final heat at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 21. Christie-Galloway clocked an adjusted time of 8.29 to pace the WAC and check in 29th on the NCAA performance list as of Jan. 25.
Anttila, a junior, secured runner-up honors in the women’s triple jump at the TTU Red Raider Open on Jan. 20, posting a 12.75m (41-10.0) mark in the fifth round. Anttila led the WAC and ranked 22nd in the nation in the triple jump as of Jan. 25.
