TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Aziz Bandaogo and UT Arlington’s Chendall Weaver have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Freshman of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Bandaogo, a sophomore center, extended his conference lead in double-doubles this season to eight with a per game average of 15.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in a 2-0 week for Utah Valley. Bandaogo poured in 13 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in a 72-64 win at UT Arlington on Jan. 5. Bandaogo closed the week with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor, 16 rebounds and six blocked shots in a 75-61 triumph at UTRGV on Jan. 7.
Weaver, a guard, turned in a solid week for UTA against two of the best teams in the WAC, averaging 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest on 53.3 percent shooting. Weaver tallied 10 points and seven boards with two assists against Utah Valley on Jan. 5 and chipped in 11 points and six rebounds in a 76-61 setback against Seattle U on Jan. 7.
