#UACFOOTBALL -- United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football announced its Players of the Week honorees for week seven competition and the list featured a pair of EKU standouts and included a trio of repeat winners. Braedon Sloan (Offensive) and Logan Blake (Defensive) helped the Colonels to a key win last Saturday while Abilene Christian's Kyle Ramsey (Specialist) and Stephen F. Austin's Aaron Sears (Freshman) joined Blake in having their names called for the second time this season by the league office.
Sloan helped carry EKU to a 41-35 2OT thrilling win over Tarleton to remain undefeated (2-0) in UAC play. The Colonels leading rusher with 120 yards on 24 carries, Sloan finished with a career and season-high four touchdowns including three on the ground. The junior running back also added a touchdown reception and collected five catches for 40 yards through the air.
Picking up his second Player of the Week nod in the last three weeks, Blake matched his career-high with 15 tackles in the win highlighted by 10 solo stops and one tackle for loss. Additionally, he recorded an interception in the second overtime session setting up the Colonels for the winning chance. Blake's effort also garnered him the FedEx Ground National Defensive Player of the Week award.
Ramsey, who collected his second weekly honor from the UAC, became the first kicker in ACU history to kick four field goals of 50-plus yards in a season with his 54-yard boot against North Alabama. He went 3-for-3 on field goals (21, 54 and 37 yards) for the game and was also a perfect 3-for-3 on extra points. With his second 54-yarder of the season, Ramsey now accounts for three of the UAC's four longest field goals.
A redshirt freshman, Sears had a career day versus Central Arkansas en route to gathering his second weekly recognition of the season. He tallied a season and career-high 15 tackles, with nine solo and six assists, marking his second double-figure tackle effort this year. Sears also recorded his first sack of the year.
