ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Paula Martinez Moreno and Idaho’s Emily Mack have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the week, for the competition week ending on Monday, Oct. 9.
 
Martinez Moreno, a sophomore, helped guide Grand Canyon to its first dual win of the year, defeating Idaho and Simon Fraser. Moreno had six total wins and four individual wins in the 200 fly (2:01.64), 200 back (2:03.25), and twice in the 100 fly (55.19, 55.51). She also swam the third leg in the Lopes 200 medley relay event to earn two first place finishes with times of 1:41.91 and 1:43.09.
 
Mack, a senior, was a key contributor in helping lead Idaho to a 3-1 record over the weekend against Grand Canyon and Simon Fraser, as she posted first-place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dive. Mack recorded a first-place score of 288.60 in the 3-meter to help secure a 146-135 win over Grand Canyon on day one. Mack followed it up on day two with a career-best score of 282.45 in the 1-meter to finish in first place.
