STEPHEN F. AUSTIN CLINCHES FIRST WAC TOURNAMENT SPOT
Stephen F. Austin was the first team to clinch a spot in the WAC Volleyball Tournament hosted by Utah Valley. The ‘Jacks were welcomed into the tournament after a 3-1 win over Southern Utah on Oct. 21. WAC Player of the Week
Ielan Bradley led Stephen F. Austin in kills with 15 on a .464 hitting clip.
LIMITED ERRORS FOR EMMA
Since the week of September 20, Tarleton State’s middle blocker
Emma Burke has rested comfortably in the WAC’s top spot for hitting percentage. Burke currently has a .390 hitting clip with 182 kills, 45 errors on 351 total attacks.
UTAH TECH TAKES DOWN UT ARLINGTON
In a five-set thriller, Utah Tech came back from behind to upset the Mavericks. The first two sets (25-21, 25-21) were close as UT Arlington found its way on top with a 2-0 lead.Utah Tech fought back, holding UT Arlington to a team hitting percentage under .100 in each of the last three sets. Freshman
Sydney Reese led the Blazers with 17 kills while hitting a career-high .379.
NCAA INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
In the latest release of the NCAA individual stat rankings for the 2023 season on Oct. 22, the WAC has a plethora of student-athletes among the top 50 in different categories. Grand Canyon’s
Tatum Parrott was sixth in the nation in points per set with 5.29 while also being No. 14 in kills per set (4.44). Teammate
Klaire Mitchell also ranked in two categories ranking 37 for assists per set (10.28) and 49 in aces per set (0.45). WAC Setter of the Week
Luanna Emiliano was currently No.50 in assists per set with 10.06. With 3.95 kills per set, UT Arlington’s
Brianna Ford ranked 40th in the NCAA. In blocks per set, Stephen F. Austin’s
Izabella Ortiz was No. 27 (1.32) and Utah Valley’s
Caleigh Vagana was 37th (1.31)
