2023 WAC WSOC Release Week 8

WEBBER REMAINS UNSTOPPABLE
 
Utah Valley’s Faith Webber scored four goals over the weekend, two in each of the Wolverines wins against Stephen F. Austin and UTRGV. With a total of 14 goals on the season, Webber is tied for second in the nation in total goals and fifth in goals per game with 1.08.  

SEATTLE U ON THE RISE 
Seattle U climbed its way from the bottom of the conference standings into fifth place this week after back-to-back shutout wins over UTRGV and Stephen F. Austin. WAC Goalkeeper of the Week Kassidy Kirgan had a standout weekend for the Redhawks, securing her fifth shutout of the season. 

CALIFORNIA BAPTIST KEEPS BUILDING MOMENTUM 
California Baptist is currently on a 10-game unbeaten streak. In the Lancers sixth shutout win of the season against Southern Utah (2-0) on Oct. 1, Sonja Lux and Lauryn White secured late goals after the 86th minute. California Baptist has not lost a game since the month of August after losing to Colorado State 1-0. 

LET’S GIVE IT UP FOR THE FRESHMAN 
Freshman Nixan Jackson from Utah Valley earned WAC Offensive Player of the Week after recording a hat trick in a dominant 10-0 shutout over Stephen F. Austin and a goal in a 4-1 win against UTRGV. Jackson played a huge role in the Wolverines securing 37 total goals (2.85 goals per game) which ranks eighth in the nation in scoring offense and tied for fifth in total goals. 

A THORN IN YOUR SIDE
Abilene Christian’s Chayse Thorn continues to be a force to be reckoned with as she scored her 12th goal of the season in a 2-1 win against Tarleton State. Thorn is the first Wildcat to reach double figures in total goals since 2019. She ranks eighth in the NCAA in total goals.
