ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s
DaJuan Gordon and California Baptist’s
Dominique Daniels Jr. have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Nov. 12.
Gordon, a graduate transfer guard, posted a pair of double-doubles for UTA during a 2-0 week to kick off the new season. Gordon averaged 19.0 points and a conference-high 12.5 rebounds per game over his first two starts, shooting 44.8 percent (13-of-29) from the floor. Gordon scored 24 points and added 14 rebounds (five offensive) and two steals in a win against 2023 NCAA Tournament team Oral Roberts on Nov. 6 and chipped in 14 points, 11 boards and four steals in just 23 minutes in a triumph against UT Tyler on Nov. 11.
Daniels, a junior transfer guard, made an immediate impact for CBU during his debut week with the Lancers. Daniels led the WAC for the week with a 23.5 points per game average, hitting an impressive 57.9 percent of shot attempts (11-of-19) from beyond the arc, while dishing out 3.0 assists per contest. Daniels poured in 22 points on 6-of-9 3-pointers in a win over San Francisco State on Nov. 6 before tallying 25 points (5-of-10 from 3-point range), five assists and a steal against Jackson State on Nov. 10.
