2023 NCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship Bracket
ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist, the winner of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Tournament and conference automatic bid, and Seattle U, the top team in the WAC regular-season standings, officially received entry into the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship on Monday.
The 2023 NCAA Championship marks the third time in four seasons (ninth time overall) that multiple WAC men’s soccer teams have qualified for the national tournament, with the most recent being the fall 2021 edition. WAC programs have previously reached the NCAA quarterfinals on two occasions (Fresno State in 1996, SMU in 1997) and the third round twice (Seattle U in 2015, Air Force in 2018). WAC programs have advanced at least one round in nine prior NCAA Men’s Soccer Championships.
CBU (9-5-4) became the first WAC men’s soccer program to repeat as the conference’s tournament champion following a hard-fought 2-1 victory against host UNLV in the championship final on Nov. 11 in Las Vegas. The Lancers are unbeaten in their past six starts and have results in 11 of their past 12 matches overall entering their second NCAA Championship at the DI level (2-1 defeat at UCLA in the 2022 first round).
Seattle U (12-3-3) kicks off its 2023 NCAA Championship journey as an at-large selection at Oregon State on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. PT. The Redhawks, who have earned a result in 10 of their past 11 matches dating back to Sept. 18, defeated the Beavers 2-1 during the regular season on Sept. 7 at Championship Field in Seattle. Seattle U is set to make its sixth NCAA appearance as a WAC member, with a 4-4-1 cumulative record in five prior tournament berths.
