ARLINGTON, Texas – UNLV’s Adnan Beji and Grand Canyon’s Isaac Poole have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the week, for the competition week ending on Monday, Nov. 20.
Beji, a junior, racked up two top-five finishes in the breaststroke events as the Rebels competed against No. 8 Stanford, No. 13 Texas, No. 16 USC, and No. 20 Wisconsin at the Texas Invitational. Beji set a school record in the 200 breast while finishing fourth in the event. His 200 breast time was also an NCAA ‘B’ cut. Beji notched a second-place finish in the 100 breast (53.37). He swam the breaststroke leg of UNLV’s third place finishes in the 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay, each of which were season-best and conference-leading times. Additionally, Beji leads the WAC in both breaststroke events with his times at the meet. He ranks in the top 25 nationally in the breaststroke events and the medley relay races.
Poole, a senior, earned zone cuts in 1m, 3m, and Platform. He placed first place in all three events with scores of 314.55 points (1m), 323.25 points (3m) and 289.85 points (platform). He was also a member of the squad who won the inaugural diving relay event.
