THE WAC TOURNAMENT BRACKET IS SET!

The six-team field for the 2023 WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament in Las Vegas is officially set. No. 1 seed Seattle U, No. 2 seed and defending champion California Baptist, No. 3 seed Utah Tech, No. 4 seed and host UNLV, No. 5 seed Utah Valley and No. 6 seed San José State will compete for the conference championship from Nov. 5-11 at Peter Johann Memorial Field on the UNLV campus.

TOP-SEEDED REDHAWKS LOOKING FOR SIXTH TOURNAMENT CROWN
Entering the 2023 WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament as the top seed, Seattle U will attempt to win its sixth conference tournament title since joining the WAC in 2013. The Redhawks previously captured the championship trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and the fall of 2021. Since the championship’s inception in 1996, the top-seeded team has won the WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament on six occasions (1996, 1997, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2019).

CBU GEARING UP FOR A TITLE DEFENSE
California Baptist defended its home field as the host of the 2022 WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament, earning its first conference soccer title as a Division I member in the process. The No. 2 seeded Lancers will attempt to become the first WAC men’s soccer team to successfully defend a conference tournament championship. CBU also could become just the fourth multi-time champion in tournament history.

SEATTLE U, SAN JOSE STATE TIED FOR MOST WAC TOURNAMENT APPEARANCES
Both Seattle U and San José State are making an 11th all-time appearance in the WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament, tied for the most trips to the soccer championship in conference history. Seattle U has compiled a 9-4-6 (.667) all-time record to go along with five tournament titles as a WAC member, while San José State has fashioned a 6-8-4 (.444) tournament mark and has finished as the conference runner-up on four occasions.

WAC TEAMS IN THE NCAA RPI
In the latest release of the NCAA RPI for the 2023 season on Oct. 29, the top regular season team in the WAC was ranked among the national top 20 in the key metric that helps seed the NCAA Championship. WAC leader Seattle U checked in 18th with a 12-2-3 overall record on the strength of a 10-match unbeaten streak dating back to Sept. 18. Seattle U’s 50th ranked opponent strength of schedule was the best in the WAC as of Oct. 29.
