ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Daniel Morozov and University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Emilien Burnel and Sam Whitehead have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Tennis Players for the Month ending on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
 
Morozov (Jr.) was awarded the Men’s Singles Player of the Month after going 4-2 throughout October. In the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational hosted by Lamar, Morozov collected three wins against Prairie View A&M (6-2, 6-0), Texas A&M – Corpus Christi (6-4, 5-7, 11-9), and Lamar (6-3, 7-5) before falling in the Flight One Championship to Rice’s Emir Sendogan (3-6, 2-6). Morozov then took on the ITA Texas Regionals hosted by TCU where he held a first-round bye. Following the first-round bye, Morozov took on and defeated Pietro Perego from Incarnate Word, 7-5, 6-2. Morozov’s tournament was, however, cut short after having to retire due to injury while battling Texas A&M’s JC Roddick.
 
Emilien Burnel (Sr.) and Sam Whitehead (Jr.) are awarded the Men’s Doubles Players of the Month as they went 2-1 at the ITA Texas Regional with wins over teams from programs which were ranked in the final poll of the 2023 season. Burnel and Whitehead first battled for a hard-earned 8-7 (7:4) win over Texas Tech’s Jonas Gundacker/Takeyasu Sekiguchi in the Round of 64. Next, they handled SMU’s Callaway Clark/Liam Krall with an 8-4 victory in the Round of 32. Burnel and Whitehead battled competitively in their Round of 16 match against TCU’s Lui Maxted/Duncan Chan but fell 8-5.
