UAC Football Weekly Honors Handed Out to APSU Trio and Southern Utah Star

#UACFOOTBALL -- After securing a share of the inaugural United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football Championship, Austin Peay saw a trio of players were joined by a Southern Utah standout performer as the Weekly Award Winners for Week 11. First-time honorees announced by the league office on Monday included the Thunderbirds' Isaiah Wooden (Offensive) along with the Govs' Tyler Long (Defensive), Maddux Trujillo (Specialist) and Xavier Smith (Freshman).

Wooden, a senior wideout for Southern Utah, had an outstanding game finishing with four touchdowns on five catches for 123 yards. His performance tied a school record for touchdown catches in a single game. Wooden also recorded his third straight 100 yard receiving game.

A graduate linebacker, Long led Austin Peay with nine tackles en route to their eighth-straight win. He also led the Govs with a pair of pass breakups and helped secure the victory with his first interception APSU on Utah Tech's penultimate drive of the contest.

Trujillo, the Govs' junior kicker, had a perfect kicking day going 3-for-3 on field goals of 23, 42, and 34 yards and connected on all three of his PATs to finish with 12 points. His first field goal was the 36th of his career, breaking the APSU career record and is now just one field goal shy of the program's single-season record.

A redshirt-freshman defensive back, Smith racked up five tackles with two solo stops to help the Govs hold Utah Tech to just 67 yards rushing. In addition, he recorded a pass breakup in the winning effort.
