ARLINGTON, Texas – UNLV’s
Adnan Beji and California Baptist’s
Mario Del Valle have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the week, for the competition week ending on Monday, Nov. 6.
Beji, a junior, helped guide UNLV to a 1-1 split of its back-to-back home-opening duals vs. BYU and Utah over the weekend. Beji claimed two victories in the 200 breast to remain unbeaten on the season in the event. In the Rebels’ team victory over the Cougars, he took first in both the 100 breast (53.77) and 200 breast (2:00.24). Beji then returned the next day to win the 200 breast (1:59.27) and placed second in the 100 breast (53.93). Additionally, he contributed in the UNLV ‘A’ relay teams’ wins in the 200 medley relay (1:28.02) vs. BYU and the 400 medley relay (3:14.83) vs. the Utes.
Del Valle, a freshman, finished in the top-2 of every diving event the Lancers' have participated in so far this season. Del Valle took the 3-meter crown against GCU, Seattle, Denver, and Hawaii to open the season and followed that up with a second-place finish in the 1-meter the next day. The following week, Del Valle shattered the CBU records in the 1-meter and 3-meter events, posting scores of 410.80 and 418.55. Del Valle has already qualified for Zones on both boards through just two competitions as a freshman.
