ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s
Neysia Howard and Utah Valley’s
Anaya Potter have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the week ending on Saturday, Dec. 9.
Howard (Sr.) took the top spot in the Spokane Invitational 200-meter with a time of 24.27 seconds. This time is the best in the WAC and ranks sixth in the country. Howard also recorded a time of 7.56 seconds in the 60-meter dash, which is currently tied for the WAC lead.
In her first collegiate meet, Potter (Fr.) set a new UVU school record in the pentathlon with 3,554 points and matched the program’s high jump record with 1.71 meters. Potter’s pentathlon score placed her third in the BYU December Invitational, which ranks first in the WAC and 18
th in the nation, fourth among all freshmen. Potter is also tied for the conference’s best high jump along with the second-best shot put with a mark of 11.00 meters in the event.
