2023-24 WAC Women's Basketball Release - Week 6
LANCERS KEEP CLIMBING UP
In the latest Women’s Basketball Mid Major Top 25 poll that was released on Dec. 12, California Baptist climbed from No. 25 to No. 20. The Lancers are on a hot streak, still being the only undefeated team in the WAC. Last week, CBU earned wins over Utah Tech (78-69) and Pepperdine (60-57) to extend its winning streak to eight.
GRAND CANYON DOWNS ARIZONA STATE
Grand Canyon earned its first win over a major conference opponent with a dominant 76-69 win against Arizona State on Dec. 8. The Lopes had four players record double-digit points, Olivia Lane earned her first double-double of the season coming off the bench with a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds. Naudia Evans had 15 points, Tiarra Brown tallied 12 points and Trinity San Antonio chipped in with 10.

California Baptist’s Chloe Webb has been a crucial part in the Lancers success this season, the senior guard currently leads the WAC in scoring averaging 22.0 points per game. She also leads all WAC players in steals per game with 3.50 and is second in rebounding, averaging 8.13 per game. Her steals and points per game marks are ranked sixth and 13th in the nation. Webb had some help this past week with freshman Khloe Lemon averaging 11.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in the Lancers wins against Utah Tech and Pepperdine. California Baptist swept the WAC weekly awards this week as Webb earned her second player of the week honor and Lemon earned her first newcomer of the week award.
SHE OUT HERE BALLIN LIKE SHE’S HARDEN
Stephen F. Austin’s Kurstyn Harden has been a consistent scorer for the ‘Jacks, scoring double-digit points in nine straight games. She leads the ‘Jacks with 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, shooting 56.1%. She averaged 17.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game last week in a win over Portland and a near upset against Alabama.
CBU EXTENDS WAC RÉSUMÉ SEEDING SYSTEM LEAD
In the latest WAC Résumé Seeding System rankings that were compiled on Dec. 13, California Baptist extended its advantage with 3.50 points. Grand Canyon jumped into second with 1.46 points after accumulating 0.87 points on Dec. 8, while Stephen F. Austin is in third with 1.24 points in the most recent posting of rankings.
DOUBLE THE TROUBLE, DOUBLE THE FUN
Utah Tech’s dynamic duo in twin sisters Macie and Maddie Warren are blazing the trail for the Trailblazers. Macie Warren leads the team in points per game with 16.3, while averaging 5.8 rebounds per game. She also ranks 22nd in the nation in three-point percentage with 49 percent. Macie Warren has scored double-digits points in eight of the Trailblazers games this season, recording a season-high 26 points against California Baptist on Dec. 6.
Maddie Warren is third on the team in points per game with 15.2 and averages 5.1 rebounds. She has a team-high total of 14 steals, recording a season-high four against Texas A&M-Commerce on Nov. 20.
