ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s
Maddie Warren and Abilene Christian’s
Payton Hull have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Dec. 24.
Warren, a redshirt sophomore guard, averaged 19.5 points on 41.9 percent shooting (13-31), including a sizzling 58.8 percent (10-17) from the perimeter in Utah Tech’s two-game split at its Trailblazer Classic last week. Warren knocked down six 3-pointers finishing with 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal in a win over Oregon on Dec. 20. She then led Utah Tech with 18 points and hit four more 3-pointers against Oklahoma State on Dec. 21.
Hull, a freshman guard, led Abilene Christian with 16 points and went 4-8 from the arc in 20 minutes of play against Western Kentucky on Dec. 18. Hull leads all WAC players in 3-pointers made with 33, shooting 43.4%. She also currently ranks third in the WAC in scoring averaging 16.80 points per game.
