TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Ray Harrison and UT Arlington’s Chendall Weaver have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Freshman of the Week, for the game week ending on Monday, Feb. 6.
Harrison, a sophomore guard, led the way for GCU in an 86-83 win over Stephen F. Austin at home on Feb. 4. Harrison poured in 28 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, to go along with an 11-of-13 mark from the free-throw line, and dished out six assists for the Lopes in the victory. Harrison has reached double figures in scoring in 17 straight starts for GCU dating back to Nov. 26 against Benedictine Mesa.
Weaver, a guard, earned conference freshman of the week for the third time this season after averaging 20.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 60.0 percent from the floor for 1-1 UT Arlington. Weaver scored a career-high 21 points and registered four assists for the Mavericks in a convincing 70-58 win in Arlington against Sam Houston on Feb. 4 and went for 19 points with three boards and two steals in a 69-64 loss to Tarleton on Feb. 6.
