TicketSmarter WAC Indoor Track & Field Athletes Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Umajesty Williams, Stephen F. Austin’s Branson Ellis, Grand Canyon’s Keira Christie-Galloway and Stephen F. Austin’s Erica Ellis have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Feb. 5.
Williams, a graduate transfer from Arizona, ran the fastest time in the WAC this season in the men’s 400-meter dash at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Feb. 3. Williams clocked in at an adjusted 46.96 to rank 46th nationally in the event as of Feb. 8.
Branson Ellis, a senior, placed third in a competitive men’s pole vault final during the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Feb. 3. Ellis extended his conference best mark this season to 5.63m (18-5.5) and was ranked sixth in NCAA Division I as of Feb. 8.
Christie-Galloway, a junior, won athlete of the week from the conference for the second time this season after competing in the women’s 60-meter hurdles at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Feb. 3. Christie-Galloway posted an adjusted preliminary time of 8.26 to lead the WAC and rank 39th in the nation as of Feb. 8.
Erica Ellis, a senior, cleared 4.24m (13-11) in the women’s pole vault at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Feb. 3 to claim fourth place in the event. Ellis’ mark led the WAC and checked in 15th in the country as of Feb. 8.
