TicketSmarter WAC Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week Announced
Arlington, Texas – Stephen F. Austin’s Mackenzie Bennett and Tarleton’s Grace Garcia have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Mar. 19.
Bennett, a senior infielder from Santee, California, went 7-13 (.538) overall including three home runs and one double. Bennett also recorded seven RBIs with five of them coming in games against CBU. Two of Bennett’s home runs came in the weekend sweep over CBU. Bennett currently leads the team with a .342 batting average and is second on the team with six home runs.
Garcia, a senior from Leawood, Kansas, was stunning in the circle once again. The senior right hander went 2-0 for the week in three appearances that culminated in 16.2 innings of work. Garcia saved some of her most masterful work for the weekend. After Seattle U took the series opener, Garcia shut down the Redhawks two days in a row to give the Texans a road series win in the Pacific Northwest. For the week, Garcia threw two complete games (both against SU) and struck out seven.
