TicketSmarter WAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes Of The Week Announced

ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Jamal January, Grand Canyon’s Marten Gasparini, Grand Canyon’s Keira Christie-Galloway and Abilene Christian’s Zoe Burleson have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, March 19.

January, a graduate student, took second place in the men’s 110-meter hurdles at the Wes Kittley Invitational on March 17-18, clocking a time of 13.78. January ranked first in the WAC and sixth in NCAA Division I as of March 22.

Gasparini, a junior, earned an impressive win in the men’s javelin throw at the GCU Invitational on March 17-18, covering 71.99m (236-2.0) on his first attempt to take the victory. Gasparini led the WAC and ranked fifth in the nation in the javelin as of March 22.

Christie-Galloway, a junior, turned in a tremendous women’s 100-meter hurdles performance to win the event at the GCU Invitational on March 17-18. Christie-Galloway clocked a time of 13.34 out of section two to lead the WAC and rank fourth in NCAA DI as of March 22.

Burleson, a sophomore, placed third in a competitive women’s discus field at the Wes Kittley Invitational on March 17-18. Burleson’s throw of 51.01m (167-4.0) in round five was the top mark of the season in the WAC and ranked 30th in the NCAA as of March 22.
