TicketSmarter WAC Baseball Players Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Dusty Garcia and Sam Houston’s Logan Hewitt have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, March 26.
Garcia, a senior outfielder, batted .538 with four home run, 10 RBI, a 1.615 slugging percentage and eight runs scored for CBU in a 3-1 week that included a series victory against Seattle U. Garcia finished a midweek win against San Diego on March 20 by reaching base five times, contributing a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. Garcia ultimately closed the Seattle series with three homers, eight driven in and five runs, including a two-homer showing versus the Redhawks on March 25.
Hewitt, a redshirt sophomore right-hander, threw 8.1 innings out of the Sam Houston bullpen and scattered just three hits, walking three with seven strikeouts. Hewitt in particular shined in game three of a series victory against No. 25 Grand Canyon on Feb. 26, tossing a scoreless final 4.1 innings with one hit and two punchouts in a 4-2 Sam Houston win over the Lopes.
