TicketSmarter WAC Baseball Players Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Grayson Tatrow and UTRGV’s Alex Verdugo have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, March 5.
Tatrow, a senior outfielder, batted .500 (7-for-14) with two extra-base hits and 13 RBI as ACU took three of four games from Houston Christian. Tatrow went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI to lead the Wildcats in game one of a doubleheader on March 4 and added four RBI to the Wildcat cause in the series finale on March 5.
Verdugo, a redshirt senior right-hander, threw 7.1 innings of shutout relief for UTRGV in a 13-5 win against Houston on March 4, helping the Vaqueros earn a series win against the Cougars for the first time in over 30 years. Verdugo walked none and struck out 10 Houston batters on 79 pitches.
