TicketSmarter WAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Southern Utah’s Santiago Gaitan, Utah Valley’s Seth Krauss, Sam Houston’s Rajer Gurode and Utah Valley’s Kelsi Oldroyd have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, April 9.
Gaitan, a senior, was the event winner of the men’s 1500-meter run at the Utah-WSU Spring Classic on April 7-8. Gaitan clocked an altitude adjusted 3:44.35 to post the top time in the WAC and the 48th-ranked time in the nation as of April 12.
Krauss, a redshirt senior, earned a win in the men’s high jump during the Utah-WSU Spring Classic on April 7-8. Krauss cleared 2.13m (6-11.75) on his third and final attempt to post the top mark in the conference and ranked 29th in NCAA Division I as of April 12.
Gurode, a freshman, was a double winner for Sam Houston during the North Texas Classic on April 8. Gurode’s top performance was a winning 23.72 in the women’s 200-meter dash that led the WAC as of April 12.
Oldroyd, a sophomore, was the overall runner-up but the top collegiate finisher in the women’s javelin at the Triton Invite on April 7-8. Oldroyd registered an attempt of 54.39m (178-5.0) in the fourth round of the competition to pace the conference and rank 12th in the country as of April 12.
