UT Arlington Secures No. 1 Seed in 2023 WAC Women’s Tennis Tournament
The Mavericks, who finished with a regular season record of 17-3 (8-1 WAC), claimed the No. 1 seed ahead of the No. 2 seed Tarleton who finished with a 15-6 overall record and 7-2 in WAC play.
The women’s tournament will begin with four matches in first-round action at the Arlington Tennis Center on April 27. No. 4 seed Grand Canyon (12-9, 6-3 WAC) faces off against No. 5 seed Abilene Christian (11-11, 5-4 WAC) at 9 a.m. CT. The No. 1 seed UT Arlington (17-3, 7-1 WAC) is matched up against No. 8 seed Sam Houston (5-12, 2-6 WAC) at noon CT. No. 3 seed UTRGV (11-8, 7-2 WAC) faces off against No. 6 seed NM State (10-12, 4-5 WAC) at noon CT. The No. 2 seed Tarleton (15-6, 7-2 WAC) is matched up against No. 7 seed Seattle U (4-10, 2-5 WAC) at noon CT. The semifinal matches will take place on Friday, April 28 beginning at 9 a.m. CT, and the final is slated for Saturday, April 29 at 9 a.m. CT.
