Sam Houston Extends Its Lead Following Day Two Of The 2023 WAC Women’s Golf Championship

BLAINE, Wash. – Sam Houston lengthened its lead at the conclusion of the second round of the 2023 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Golf Championship on a beautiful Monday at Semiahmoo Country Club. The Bearkats fired a 4-over-par 292 to extend their lead to seven strokes at 9-over 585 (293-292).
The field averaged 77.28 over 60 completed rounds in the second round of play, dropping the overall tournament scoring average to 77.58 after 36 holes. The 155-yard par-3 12th hole and the 516-yard par-5 13th hole remained the easiest holes on the course, yielding a +0.10 stroke average after two rounds.
California Baptist snagged solo second place after shooting a second straight 296 to post 16-over-par (296-296=592). NM State climbed to third place thanks to a second round 292 to post 17-over 593 (301-292), while Seattle U dropped two slots to fourth place at 595 (296-299, +19). Southern Utah rounded out the top five with a 294 to record a 36-hole total of 601 (307-294, +25).
Southern Utah’s Tsara Ralamboarison took over the individual lead following a 2-under-par 70 on Monday, highlighted by four birdies on her scorecard. Ralamboarison led by two shots at 1-under 143 (73-70) after 36 holes. Sam Houston teammates Zulaikah Nasser (75-70) and Jennifer Herbst (72-73) were tied for second place at 1-over-par 145, with NM State’s Emma Bunch (73-73), Seattle U’s Aaryanna Morris (73-73) and California Baptist’s Hailey Loh (72-74) tied for fourth at 2-over-par 146.
The third and final round of the 2023 WAC Women’s Golf Championship is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday at Semiahmoo Country Club. Live results are available via Golfstat.com.
