TicketSmarter WAC Baseball Players Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Daniel Dickinson and Grand Canyon’s Daniel Avitia have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, May 14.
Dickinson, a freshman infielder, claimed conference weekly honors for the second time this season after he batted an impressive .727 with a home run, five doubles, seven RBI, two stolen bases and eight runs scored in a series win against NM State. Dickinson went 4-for-4 with four doubles and five RBI in the series opener on May 12 and added three hits and four runs in the finale on May 14 to complete the sweep.
Avitia, a sophomore right-hander, earned his second weekly WAC nod of the year after a quality start for GCU in a win at UTRGV on May 12. Avitia went six full innings and allowed four hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out six on 100 pitches in an 8-2 road victory for the Lopes.
