TicketSmarter WAC Baseball Players Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Zach Yorke and Utah Valley’s Casey Anderson have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, May 7.
Yorke, a freshman utility player, batted .500 with three extra-base hits, 10 RBI and four runs scored in a 4-0 week that included a sweep of Tarleton. Yorke smashed a home run and drove in six runs as part a three-hit day to open the series at Tarleton on May 6, adding three RBI in the nightcap of the doubleheader. He closed the week with two hits and two runs on May 7.
Anderson, a junior right-hander, earned weekly honors from the conference for the second time this season following a sensational start against Stephen F. Austin on May 7. Anderson went seven full innings and allowed five hits against the Lumberjacks, surrendering a lone run, and struck out nine batters on 92 pitches in an 8-3 win for Utah Valley.
