GCU Baseball’s Homer Bush Jr. Named To The CSC Academic All-America Second Team

ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon junior outfielder Homer Bush Jr. was one of 35 Division I baseball players to earn 2023 Academic All-America honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC). Bush was among three DI outfielders to be included on the Academic All-America Second Team.

Established in 1952 and selected by members of College Sports Communicators, the Academic All-America program is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success in the nation. Student-athletes are nominated by their athletics communications director and must have a minimum 3.50 GPA and be a starter or important reserve on their team. CSC members vote for Academic All-America teams within their respective divisions from nominees who first advanced from an initial round of Academic All-District polling.

Bush, a sports management major with a 3.92 GPA, started all 58 games for GCU during the 2023 campaign, batting .370 with a team-high 88 hits, 19 doubles, 25 stolen bases and 69 runs scored. Bush added two home runs, 41 RBI and a .478 on-base percentage to his stat line for the year. Bush also shined in conference play, batting .358 with 11 extra-base hits, 22 RBI, 16 stolen bases and a team-high 43 runs in 29 league starts to earn All-WAC First-Team plaudits.
