ARLINGTON, Texas – Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Commissioner
Brian Thornton announced on Tuesday the staff promotion of
Kendra Sheehan to the title of director, digital communications/reporter.
In her role with the WAC, Sheehan is the primary on-air talent for the conference’s in-studio video segments, digital interviews and on-location social media broadcasts, and is a key voice on conference-sponsored live event telecasts across the majority of the league’s affiliated sports. Sheehan is the lead on-air sideline reporter for a host of WAC championship events, including the men’s and women’s basketball tournament in Las Vegas and the baseball tournament in Mesa, Arizona, and has worked as both the play-by-play voice and color analyst of other conference championship ESPN+ telecasts that include men’s soccer, swimming & diving and softball.
Sheehan was also the solo emcee of the 2022 WAC Football Media Day from The Woodlands and the inaugural United Athletic Conference Media Day from Texas Live! in Arlington in 2023, along with hosting the WAC’s annual basketball media days each fall.
Sheehan arrived at the WAC in October of 2021 after spending two years as weekend sports anchor for WSIL News 3 in Carterville, Illinois. She added duties as a reporter and color commentator for Southern Illinois University athletics during her time at WSIL News 3. Sheehan previously served as a training camp digital content reporter for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills during the summer of 2019.
Originally from the Chicago metropolitan area, Sheehan earned a bachelor's degree from Florida State University in 2018 before completing a masters' degree in broadcast digital journalism from Syracuse University in 2019. While at Syracuse, Sheehan worked on ACC Network broadcasts of Orange soccer and was a part of the broadcast team for athletic events at local Le Moyne College.
