Faith Webber, Grand Canyon’s
Aleisha Ganief and California Baptist’s
Noa Schumacher have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Sept. 11.
Webber, a junior forward, recorded a hat trick in Utah Valley’s 3-2 road win at No. 19 USC.
It was Webber’s second hat trick of her career and the 11th hat trick in Utah Valley’s history. The road win over USC marked the third time in program history that the Wolverines has knocked off a top-25 team, and it was the second straight season to defeat a top-25 team on the road. She fired seven shots, including five on frame to help Utah Valley to a 1-0-1 record.
Ganief, a junior, was part of the Grand Canyon backline that earned its fifth shutout win of the season against North Dakota. Ganief and the Lopes did not allow a shot on goal for the first time this season against North Dakota. Against South Dakota State, Ganief and the Grand Canyon’s defense held the Jackrabbits to three shots on goal.
Schumacher, a redshirt senior, secured the Lancers first major conference win in program history over Oregon with a penalty kick save in the 88
th minute to earn her third shutout of the season. Schumacher only allowed one goal over the weekend, as she had seven saves against the Ducks and four saves in a 2-1 win over Fresno State.
