UTAH TECH’S WINNING STREAK
Utah Tech is on a three-game winning streak for the first time this season. The Trailblazers have won games against Portland State, Colorado State and Idaho State. Against Colorado State and Idaho State, Utah Tech secured the wins by game-winning goals within the final five minutes of both games.
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST AND NOA SCHUMACHER LEADS THE WAC IN GOALS ALLOWED
California Baptist has played nine games and have only allowed five goals this season. Thanks to the Lancers defense and goalkeeper Noa Schumacher, no opponent has scored more than one goal in any game. California Baptist is currently tied for 26 in the NCAA for goals against average with .556.
FOX’S HOT STREAK
Along with Utah Tech’s three game-winning streak, the WAC Offensive Player of the Week Lacy Fox is having a hot streak of her own scoring goals in each of the last three games. Fox scored one goal against Portland State and Idaho State, while scoring two against Colorado State. She is now up to five goals on the season, which leads the team.
LEAH PIRRIO ON TOP OF NATIONAL RANKINGS
Grand Canyon’s Leah Pirrio secured her spot in the top five of national rankings with her assist against Arkansas on Sept. 17. Pirrio now has eight assists on the season, which is tied for second in the nation. She sits alone at No. 5 in the NCAA for assists per game with .80.
WAC ONE OF TWO CONFERENCES WITH THREE STUDENT-ATHLETES IN NCAA TOP 10 FOR TOTAL GOALS
The WAC is tied with the Big 12 with three student-athletes in the top 10 national rankings for total goals. The WAC is represented by Grand Canyon’s Gianna Gourley who is tied for fifth with 10 goals, while Abilene Christian’s Chayse Thorn and Utah Valley’s Faith Webber both sit at No. 7 with nine goals each.
CONFERENCE PLAY COMMENCES THIS WEEKEND
After a competitive slate of non-conference games, the WAC membership begins conference play and the competition for seeding in the WAC Women’s Soccer Tournament that will be hosted by California Baptist.
