TARLETON STATE ATOP NCAA RANKINGS IN TEAM KILLS
Tarleton State stands atop NCAA rankings in team kills with 754. Bryant University is second with 730 team kills. Outside hitter Allison Bryant leads the Texans in kills with 195, Rajini Fitzmaurice has 146, and Grayson Schirpik currently has 125 kills on the season.
THREE TEAMS WITH FOUR+ WINNING STREAK
Three WAC schools are currently on a four-game or more winning streak. Tarleton State is on a four-game hot streak which has catapulted the Texans into third place in the WAC standings, after being in sixth last week. UT Arlington and California Baptist have each won five games in a row.
STEPHEN F. AUSTIN NO. 1 IN THE NATION IN TOTAL BLOCKS
Stephen F. Austin secured the number one spot in the nation in team total blocks with 223. Middle Blocker Izabella Ortiz leads the ‘Jacks with 67 blocks, which was tied for fourth in the NCAA.
THEY KNOW HOW TO PUT THE BALL DOWN
Two WAC student-athletes had 50-plus kill showings while also hitting over .350 this past weekend. WAC Player of the Week Ielan Bradley from Stephen F. Austin had 51 kills and an impressive .449 hitting clip. Against Tulsa, Bradley recorded 25 kills, hit .610 and had no errors. UT Arlington’s Brianna Ford also had 51 kills on the week with a .354 hitting percentage. Ford is now just 19 kills away from reaching 1,000 for her career.
UT ARLINGTON BACK ON TOP OF WAC STANDINGS
UT Arlington’s five-game winning streak has put the Mavs back on top of the WAC standings. The Mavs currently have seven 3-0 sweeps and have only gone to five sets twice this season.
CONFERENCE PLAY BEGINS THIS WEEKEND
After a competitive slate of non-conference games, the WAC membership begins conference play and the competition for seeding in the WAC Volleyball Tournament that will be hosted by Utah Valley.
