2023 WAC WSOC Release Week 7

CALIFORNIA BAPTIST, UTAH VALLEY AND TARLETON STATE ATOP OF CONFERENCE STANDINGS

California Baptist, Utah Valley and Tarleton State are all tied for first place after finishing 1-0-1 in the first week of conference play. California Baptist won against Seattle U 1-0 and tied with Utah Valley 1-1. Tarleton State secured a 1-0 win over UTRGV and had a 1-1 draw with Stephen F. Austin, while Utah Valley had a dominant 4-0 win against Grand Canyon. 

ABILENE CHRISTIAN’S CHAYSE THORN TIED WITH GRAND CANYON’S GIANNA GOURLEY IN TOTAL GOALS 
Abilene Christian’s Chayse Thorn had two goals in the Wildcats 2-0 win at Stephen F. Austin. It was Thorn’s fifth multi-goal game and puts her at 11 goals this season, which are tied with Grand Canyon’s Gianna Gourley, who had one goal this weekend against Seattle U. Thorn is also tied for first in the nation in game-winning goals with five. 

STANDOUT WEEKEND FOR KAYLEE HAUCK OF CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
Kaylee Hauck earned WAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring in back-to-back games. Hauck scored the tying goal against Utah Valley and scored the game-winner at Seattle U to earn the Lancers their first conference shutout win. 

LATE GOALS LEAD TARLETON STATE TO EXCEL IN CONFERENCE WEEKEND OPENER
Tarleton State scored goals late in the second half of both games to secure a win and a draw the first week of conference play. Mila Bettinelli scored the tying goal against Stephen F. Austin in the 85th minute, while Rylee Low found the back of the net in the 78th minute to win against UTRGV 1-0.   

UTAH VALLEY TOPS GRAND CANYON IN 4-0 SHUTOUT
Utah Valley picked up a huge road win against Grand Canyon on Sept. 24. The Wolverines scored all four goals in the second half with Heather Stainbrook and Manthy Brady each having two. The Wolverines extended their unbeaten streak to five games.
