ARLINGTON, Texas – Stephen F. Austin’s Nathan Kapel and UTRGV’s Jedidiah Udunna have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 14.

Kapel (Fr.), the freshman from Kapenguria, Kenya, made his collegiate debut in the Arkansas Invitational and ran the current fastest mile in the WAC with a time of 4:04.42, placing seventh in the meet. Kapel currently sits 24th nationally in the mile run, as he etched his name in the Stephen F. Austin history books, now holding fastest one-mile record in the program.

More history was made in the Arkansas Invitational, as Udunna (So.) broke a 29-year-old UTRGV indoor program record with a long jump of 7.59 meters. Udunna’s long jump placed him first overall in the Invitational, currently ranking best in the WAC, and 15th in the country. Udunna now owns both the indoor and outdoor long jump program records for UTRGV.
