ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Alex Volkov and California Baptist’s Gael Jiminez have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Jan. 21.
 
Volkov, a sophomore, placed first in the 100 backstroke (47.75) and 100 butterfly (47.36) against California Baptist and UC San Diego. Volkov competed in the 400 free relay (2:59.97), finishing first place. He was also part of the 200 medley relay (1:29.62) that placed second.
 
Jiminez-Mestes, a sophomore, swept the diving events against Grand Canyon at home last weekend. He qualified for NCAA Zones on both the 1-meter (355.28) and 3-meter (393.23) competitions.
